« Ce week-end, la ville qui porte son nom (Marie), Marioupol, est devenue une ville martyre par la guerre ruineuse qui ravage l’Ukraine. Face à la barbarie des meurtres d’enfants, de citoyens innocents et sans défense, aucune raison stratégique ne tient : la seule chose à faire est de cesser l’inacceptable agression armée avant que la ville ne soit réduite à un cimetière. Le cœur endolori, j’ajoute ma voix à celle du peuple qui implore la fin de la guerre. Au nom de Dieu, écoutez le cri de ceux qui souffrent, et arrêtez les bombardements et les attentats ! Qu’il y ait une concentration réelle et décisive sur les négociations, et que les couloirs humanitaires soient efficaces et sûrs. Au nom de Dieu, je vous demande : arrêtez ce massacre ! »

“This weekend, the city that bears her name (Mary), Mariupol, has become a city martyred by the ruinous war that is devastating Ukraine. Faced with the barbarism of the killing of children, and of innocent and defenceless citizens, there are no strategic reasons that hold up : the only thing to be done is to cease the unacceptable armed aggression before the city is reduced to a cemetery. With an aching heart I add my voice to that of the common people, who implore the end of the war. In the name of God, listen to the cry of those who suffer, and put an end to the bombings and the attacks ! Let there be real and decisive focus on the negotiations, and let the humanitarian corridors be effective and safe. In the name of God, I ask you : stop this massacre !”
